My 1979 pedestal needed to be refurbished. Edson had a program for doing just that. While the boat was out for the engine rebuild, I pulled the pedestal and shipped it off to Edson in an old golf bag. I was well pleased with the service and the returned pedestal looked great. |
Original condition of my 1979 Pedestal
| Edson had a newly refurbished pedestal back to me in 6 weeks. (They trashed my golf bag.) :-(

Before removal, I marked the throttle and shift cable connections with their lengths. The compass was marked also. The only wiring I had to deal with was the red running light to the compass. All of the chain controls and steering hardware was to be replaced.
| Very happy with the results. I had to ask for a non-marked throttle handle due the fact that pushing my throttle forward slowed my engine. The standard handle comes marked with an arrow forward for acceleration. No charge, just a different handle and marking. |
When I removed the pedestal three of the four aluminum bolts were loose and the forth one was corroded so severely that the head broke off.
| Cleaned deck area, new cables and caulking ready for the pedestal. The hardware below deck was all in excellent condition. I lubricated the cables, repacked the rudder box and painted the bilge area.

While we are on the subject of steering...when was the last time you tied
out that emergency rudder handle? | |
|
On the other hand... (The only tiller I have ever seen on a P35) |

The refurbished pedestal came with the Edson Installation Manual that came with the newly refurbished pedestal.
