Last spring while
Mikhaya was on the hard I cleaned all of the Thru Hulls (8 bronze). In the process I contacted Wilcox-Crittenden about the proper way to service and lubricate the Seacoxs (their spelling). They have not made the cast bronze seacocks for a number of years but one of there engineers sent me an old catalog that included the service process. The Pearson
Newsgroups have been busy with past topic of Wilcox-Crittenden cast bronze thru hulls. I have attached three pages of the catalog below as a reference.

Seacock with center plug removed. |
 |
The removed parts from the seacock, sanded and cleaned. I used marine white grease to lube the insides of the seacock. |
 |
I replaced the small brass relief plug on the side. This screw is the same size as a grease nipple used on car axles. The purpose was not to use this as grease point but as a drain for water in the winter time. (See page 1 of the Wilcox-Crittenden catalog above) |

In the Pearson Current Newsletter, Volume 5, #3 a P28 owner wrote in to Bill Shaw (Designer of the Pearson Sailboats) wanting to know how the thru hulls were originally installed by Pearson Yachts. Bill Shaw offered this drawing to the right from his memory. This is exactly
how all of Mikhaya's thru hulls are assembled.
