Prop & Shaft

When I pulled the engine I removed the prop and had it cleaned and balanced.  I removed the 24 year old shaft and cleaned and inspected it also. While everything was apart I replaced the Cutless Bearing. Listed below are the details.

The Stainless Steel Shaft

The propeller was removed and the shaft was pulled out through the stern tube.  It had some wear rings on it due to the old stuffing box. Once cleaned up, it was in good shape.

The shaft was SS, 32" x 1.0."

The Shaft Coupling was 4" in diameter, 4 hole pattern with 2 each 1¼" x /16" set screws. The coupling end keys were /16" x 1⅞"  long.

The Bronze Propeller

As can be seen in the first picture, the zinc was gone but the prop was not really in bad shape.  It didn't have any barnacles on it.  The SS cotter pin was removed and the SS nuts were unscrewed.  The rudder was placed full to port and the prop was worked off.

The 16 x 12, 3 blade, right hand propeller was reconditioned by Bobby Soles of West Palm Beach, FL.

It was stamped with 16-12, #BSS22227.

Prop end keys 5/16" x 2 ⅛" long,   SS Nuts (2 ea) were ¾". The zinc was a P 3 & 4 from CAMP COMPANY, St Petersburg, FL.

Notice the zinc is completely gone.
