Doha Qatar

Last Update: Sept 2007

Jim sent along some updated pictures of his new Marina

New Marina

The new marina: we were the first boat in the new marina. Now it's full with a two year waiting list and they just doubled the rent.

Hazy day at Safliya Island: in the summer it can get pretty hazy. High humidity 80% plus, and lots of dust in the air from the desert.

Out at Banana Island (shaped like a crescent): In the winter it can get cool - down to 50/60 - notice the jackets. Dhows are still used for fishing (using fish traps) and more and more for recreation/tours.

On the way out: City in the background, it's actually very modern.

Centennial  is off the cargo ship and in the marina in the Persian Gulf.  Jim sent these pictures along as an update. (12 Feb 2003)

The only way to launch a boat!

Centennial is just to left of center.  Jim indicated he worked in one
of the building off in the distance....yea right, you really got that work thing down!

Jim and Deb!  Congratulations!

Original Article
So you just bought that P35 and now you want to transport it home.  Jim had the same desire but his new home was in Doha Qatar, on the Persian Gulf.  Below are some pictures of his boat being inspected in Doha at the customs dock.  Jim said the only problem during shipment was some bent stanchions.  Check back for more on this January 2003 story....

NOTE:  As you expand the third picture, look just off in the distance, to the right of the tractor....that ship belongs to somebody's Navy and it's not small.
