Méandra
Well, the "bar" has just gone up a few inches with this 30 year old
Pearson 35. Wow, we are really in the classic age of vantage
P35 sail boats. What a great example Malcolm. Hats off
to Co-Captain Douglass Gamble for the bright work.
Harris
Méandra happened this way. We owned a boat in the first years of the
Moorings Tortola charter business. It was a navy blue-hull beauty (a
Perason 35) named Polyandria. So when we decided on having a boat in
the Chesapeake, we still liked that a ending. Starting with the
River Meander, we came up with Meandra. But the sound of Meandra was
a little bit nasal, and winey, and our great friend Andrée Abecasis
suggested doing an accent ´over the e. Thereby, Yacht Méandra ! Here
are current photos. She has a new propane stove and cabin heater,
new refrigeration, electric head, windlass etc., etc. In short, she
looks pretty darn good, and she's still the most comfortable of
boats! It's fun to be among fellow Pearson 35 friends! By the way,
Co-Captain Douglass Gamble, our friend of almost 40 years, did all
the extraordinary bright work, both inside and out! Here's to the
Pearson 35!
