Conflict

CONFLICT

The sea is forever quivering

The shore forever still,

And the boy who is born in a seacoast town

Is born with a dual will.

The sunburned rocks and beaches

inveigle him to stay,

While every wave that breaches,

Is a nudge to be up and away.

- Wilbur Snow

Though I would give an update on Hull #133 now named CONFLICT and living happily in Chatham, MA.  Purchased the then JOAN B in March of this year.  Made 6 trips from Cape Cod to Rockland ,Maine to get her ready to sail home. Installed new thru hulls, new bilge pumps, halyards, engine work, and set about refinishing a fairly crazed hull. After sanding with 80,120 220 grit paper, I used Interlux Solvent 202 to clean up any tracews of wax and residue. Next came 3 coats of Pre-Kote primer sanded through 180,220,320 between coats. The final primer coat I also wet sanded 400 and 600 grit by hand before applying the first of 2 coats of Interlux Brightside Enamel. I used the roll and tip method which is a bitch with only one person but really works well.  CONFLICT made a dramatic sail home on Memorial Day Weekend in Stormy conditions and big seas. She handled wonderfully, and aside from a few leaks...we are having a blast together. The list of to-dos keeps growing. Stay tuned!
